Early spring blooms

Saturday, February 28, 2015

An early Spring arrived, and for the first time in my adult life February wasn't miserable. I was even a little sad for it to go by so fast.

January skies

Tuesday, December 23, 2014

“I do an awful lot of thinking and dreaming about things in the past and the future - the timelessness of the rocks and the hills - all the people who have existed there. I prefer winter and fall, when you feel the bone structure of the landscape - the loneliness of it, the dead feeling of winter. Something waits beneath it, the whole story doesn't show.”― Andrew Wyeth

Slowdive at Neptune Theater
Seattle, WA / November 14th

Sunday, October 26, 2014

I came across this book at an gallery on my birthday, and have decided that this will be the general theme of my 35th year on this planet.
Kaufmann Desert House by Richard Neutra - Palm Springs, CA / It doesn't look like much from the road, but this house is a dream and I finally got to see it!
It's no Julius Shulman photo, but it'll do.
To celebrate my 35th year on this planet, that wonderful husband of mine brought me back to my happy place. A handful of days spent lounging by the pool, wandering around town, eating really good food, drinking and jenga at a tiki bar, exploring Joshua Tree, and driving around my favorite mid-century neighborhood seeing some serious dream houses. It couldn't have been better, and it was the trip that made me realize my adventures with California are just beginning again. We arrived back to Seattle after eleven p.m. to a windy rain storm. It was depressing, but SeaTac was playing Temple of the Dog when we got off the plane, and I was instantly okay with being home.

Seattle Aquarium  / September 10th
Kerry Park - Seattle, WA
Mt. Rainier from West Seattle Bridge - September 13th

September began with a visit from my parents. We ran around non-stop, and I felt like a tourist in my own town, falling in love with this place all over again. I'll always do what I can to convince them to make a move west, or at least another trip.
